Steven Mcgovern

Steven Mcgovern’s current work questions the validity of information and how its over saturation proves to limit our understanding.
Often using materials that function as temporary forms of display and records of moments in our lives the artist mirrors the sense of immediacy that contemporary media demands.
Artists statement:  “I try not to plan things out, as through different methods of transference and translation it is the information lost which interests me and drives the work. I have used pre-internet publications of scientific magazines as reference points of how information had to be verified by experts before mass consumption but not so today. Diagrammatic images seem bursting with information but are rendered useless without key words or references. I develop this work through physical and digital manipulation and interference of popular media, google images and scientific theory and visualisations...”
“More information does always not mean greater knowledge”.
